Serendip Education Grant Approved.

TLC Inc. supports the ongoing education program for regional youth at Serendip Sanctuary. Lara Primary school students attend Serendip three days per week.

The Minister for planning has approved planning permit NO. 1185/2013 and Ammendment C293 to the 2009 Lara Structure Plan that rezones lands at Caddy’s Road.

The amended planning scheme is for 131 residential homes to be constructed across from the sensitive Serendip State Sanctuary at Windermere Road behind a 200 metre estate buffer from the Serendip Sanctuary boundary fence. A total cat ban is in place to protect the Sanctuary’s endangered and resident fauna.

TLC Inc. notes that many late changes to the permit were submitted to the panel by the developer that were approved by the minister. These proposals significantly altered the published Planning Permit documents relied upon in public submissions.

TLC Inc. continues to monitor enforcement performance on the total cat ban deemed after the fact by the city as being “voluntary”  in the new estate as well as the performance of the 200 metre buffer as put forth by the, minister, developer and all parties. The city planning department continues to accept applications for inappropriate development inside the 200m buffer to Serendip Sanctuary.

Please let Geelong Council know your opinion on strict enforcement of the ministers cat ban, dog controls and protecting the 200 meter buffer from future development.
